About Moses

One of the most important prophets of the Bible's Old Testament, Moses was born to a Jewish family. When the Pharoah decreed that all newborn Israelite boys must be killed, Moses' family placed him in a basket of reeds and sent him down the Nile river where he was found and adopted by an Egyptian princess. Eventually, Moses discovered his Jewish heritage and after killing a cruel Egyptian slavedriver was banished by the Pharaoh Rameses II. He wandered in the desert and came to terms with his destiny as a prophet before leading the Jews out of Egyptian captivity and parting the Red Sea, defeating the Egyptian army and Rameses with a miracle assisted by God. It was to Moses that God revealed the Ten Commandments for his followers to obey.
