Babies start off drinking their mother’s milk before graduating to cow milk. Milk is a dairy product secreted by mammary glands in mammals. It can help with digestion of other food, and since it contains calcium it helps bone health. Mother’s milk contains antibodies that a baby needs in order to create their immune system. This is one reason it is important. Milk has saturated fat, protein and vitamin C. Unfortunately, some individuals have a lactose intolerance, which means they cannot drink milk because it makes them sick. A little touch of lactose intolerance will cause digestion issues and there are now pills one can take to be able to drink milk. Other mammals produce milk like goats, and goat milk is common in some countries. Milk is used in cheese and other dairy products. The first known use of cows for milk was around 7000 BC. But milk was not bottled and sold until 1878.
