About Middle Ages
In European history time was often called ages to signify a certain period. There were the Dark Ages, Middle Ages, Renaissance Age, etc. The Middle Ages represent a period of time between the 5th and 16th Centuries. The beginning of the Middle Ages is typically defined by the fall of the Western Roman Empire. After this time there was an Early Modern Period, Reformation, and then the Italian Renaissance, which signified the transition out of the Middle Ages. The Middle Ages also signify the movement into classical civilization meaning that education, humanistic qualities, and art began to appear more and more; especially in the later years. The Middle Ages still had a cast system, in fact it was the beginning of the serfs, knights, kings, and other nobility, as well as the peasants. Many wars were fought during the Middle Ages like the Hundred Year’s War. They also had periods of Pestilence like the “Dark Ages” in which the Bubonic Plague ravaged the world, killing many due to lack of hygiene and modern medicine.
Dressing up as Middle Ages
At time of nobility and great feats, the Middle Ages provide you with more than a dozen costumes to choose from. You can go for the fanciful look and adopt a Dragon costume complete with tail and dangerous fangs! Or you might choose a more typical costume without mythological elements such as the Knight or Fair Maiden. A knight costume offers a set of armor or tunic and hose depending on your budget. If you go for the tunic and hose you can choose to have typical cross logos on the shirt or even your own coat of arms. Do not forget the sword and shield to add to the look. Peasant costumes or King and Queen costumes are also very popular. If you wish to be a king or queen you will have to find luxury clothing and that gold crown to be the most elegant individual at your next party. Perhaps Prince Philip or Prince Charming can add the proper nobility look.
