About Matador

A Matador is a bull fighter. A matador is going to dress up in a certain uniform to go out and meet a bull. Basically a matador stands in the ring, waving a red cape around attracting the bulls attention. As the bull runs the Matador tries to get out of the way. To become a Matador it takes a long time to train. The training must be professional in order to avoid injury. Matadors are a tradition of Spain and Portugal, but areas of France and Latin America also have Matadors. The history of Matadors can be traced back to the time of bull worship and sacrifice. The killing of the sacred bull was important to the Roman Empire. It is said that Emperor Claudius was the one to introduce the bull fighting during the gladiator games. The process is meant to incite the bull, distract it, and cause injury to the bull. In the past killing the bull was a necessity, all though today it is not.

Dressing up as Matador

To dress up as a Matador you would need white knee socks, black hose or pants that reach just below the knee. Then for the top of the costume a white dress shirt is needed. The costume also has a short jacket in red or black. A sombrero and red cape would finish off the costume. Matadors tend to have designs on the pants and jacket so you might consider that as well. Children and adults can find a matador costume. There are also a number of choices for your budget.
