About Marvel

Marvel refers to the Marvel trademark which began with comics and has since branched out to games, films, toys, and other products. Marvel Comics was founded in 1939 as Timely Comics. Martin Goodman was the man behind the publishing company. Marvel has provided the world with numerous comic super heroes. Among their top comics are Spider Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and Xmen. In the 1950’s Timely Comics became Atlas Comics, before becoming Marvel in 1961. Creators of the comics were Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditkko. Marvel is one of the largest comic creators with DC Comics being their competitor. The first comic book character in the Marvel Comics was the Human Torch, which appeared in October 1939. It was also the appearance of Bill Everrett’s anti hero Namor the Sub Mariner. Over the years the characters created under the Marvel name have appeared in their own comics as well as within other comics for crossover events. So far the most popular Marvel Comics have been recreated in film either as animations or live action. The most recent comics were Wolverine, Iron Man, and soon to come Thor. Elektra is one of the only female characters of Marvel which has her own comic book; though she did appear in Daredevil.

Dressing up as Marvel

It’s time to get your superhero costume out! Join the Fantastic Four or be a lone wolf as the Wolverine. The Marvel Comic costumes are almost endless when you consider the heroes and villains awaiting you. To give a few examples of the comic costumes you can wear consider Elektra. For this costume you will have a red halter top and red form fitting pants made from leather or knit material. You would also need to get her weapons and a brown wig. For Wolverine you have the original Marvel classic of yellow spandex with black stripes. You could also go for the Hollywood version of Logan, in which you would need a pair of tight fitting jeans, a leather belt with buckle, white tee shirt, and brown leather jacket. Do not forget the wings in your hair, and fake wolverine claws to round out the look. The Fantastic Four are quite a hit as well, so grab your red spandex suit and either get elastic arms or a torch like feel as you step out to save the world on Halloween or at your next costume party.
