About Marionette

A marionette is a form of puppet which differs from those like the {Muppets]. A marionette is controlled by wires that are held above the head of the puppet by the manipulator. Often marionettes are used in theatre and other entertainment venues. In ancient times puppetry was a form of performance. It is said marionettes existed as far back as ancient Egypt in 2000 BC. At the time the puppet was controlled with wood, wire, and they were also made from wood. Eventually marionettes were created from ivory and clay. Today all three types of materials are used to create marionettes, though the art form is becoming less popular in recent decades in many places.
