About Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is the raucous celebration that precedes Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent leading up to Easter. While some of the most famous celebrations for Mardi Gras and Carnival occur in New Orleans, Lousiana and Rio De Janiero, Brazil, cities all over the world celebrate the day. The New Orleans celebration features massive floats cutting a path down Bourbon Street and partying in the streets. Beads are tossed to the revellers and party-goers are seen drenched in the holiday's traditional colors of purple, green, and gold -- representative of justice, faith, and power.
