About Majorette

A majorette is a woman usually in a school dance company or band, who dances and uses baton twirling. Majorettes also appear in parades. The first majorette can be dated back to the 1800’s, and now we have majorettes with drill and gymnastic capabilities. Majorettes have been known to twirl more than batons in the past. In fact many from the past used to twirl knives, flags, and more. Part of their dance moves included cartwheels, back flips, and more.

Dressing up as Majorette

A Majorette costume is generally the school colors the Majorette belongs to. On our site you can find a few choices in Majorette costumes with green or white skirts. The skirts are typically mid thigh in length. The jacket will be military in style with long coat tails to flair over the skirt. To top off the costume typically a baton and drum major hat will be used. Other costume ideas include dancer, ballerina, and band members.
