About Magi

Although the term "Magi" is associated with that of the Three Kings or Three Wisemen, the word's origin may give some clue as to where these travelers bearing gifts to the infant Jesus came from. "Magi" is an ancient Greek term, derrived from the word "magus," meaning "sorcerror" or "magician," giving a mystical air to these three men. The word "Magi" also refers to the Zoroastrian priest caste of ancient Persia (present-day Iran), that also extended into parts of India. Although it's not known for certain, these three wisemen may have come from Greece, India, or Iran.

Dressing up as a Magi

Whether you call them Magi, Three Kings, or the Three Wisemen, these travelers were referred to by their names as handed down in Biblical lore: Balthazar, Gaspar (or Caspar), and Melchior. Choose from any number of costumes to befit a wise, traveling man in sizes to fit adult and full-size kings or wee Wisemen in kids' sizes. Each costume comes in a vivid, rich jewel-toned shade of fabric with a matching belt and crown.

Accessorize with a pair of sandals or gladiator sandals and an appropriate coffer to hold your rare, precious gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
