If your first choice was the Queen of Hearts, but your friends said they would disown you if you went in drag, your next obvious choice is the Mad Hatter. Get a nice big, rediculus hat, some insane hair, (hair and hare) and get ready to rock the town! You may not be as hot as Johnny Depp, but you can always try! read more »

My Costume is the Mad Hatter which is inspired from Tim Burtons new movie "Alice in Wonderland" coming out in 2010. I love the twist that Tim puts on all his characters that he uses in his films, which is one of the reasons I chose to model my costume after his version of the Mad Hatter. My wife and I made the entire costume ourselves. Materials Used: clothes and shoes from the thrift ... read more »

The costume is mostly homemade - pieces sewn, glued, etc. I know Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter won't be in theaters until March 5th, but his character/image will certainly become a pop culture icon. Hope you enjoy!  read more »

This costume is based off of the Mad Hatter from American McGee's: Alice. I made the hat, mask, and vest on my own. The spats and pants were bought at a thrift store and costume shop. I've always loved the style of the game, and thought instead of the typical Mad Hatter that everybody does, I'd go with this instead. read more »

I was Alice and my husband is the Mad Hatter. We both made the costumes. We were inspired by the Tom Petty video for Don't Come Around Here No More.  comment »

About Mad Hatter

A very merry unbirthday to you! The Mad Hatter is one of the most perplexing characters in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland as well as in its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. While hanging out with the March Hare and a small rodent, the Mad Hatter spends his time reciting riddles that even he himself cannot answer and drinking tea from broken chinaware. The insanity of the Mad Hatter can easily be seen during the tea party scene in Alice in Wonderland when he attempts to fix a broken pocket watch by spreading butter inside of it and dunking it in his tea. In Tim Burton's planned 2010 re-imagining of "Alice In Wonderland," Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter.

Dressing as the Mad Hatter

Why is a raven like a writing desk? Don't know the answer? That’s perfect! Neither did the Mad Hatter! Portray him in all his insane glory at your next costume party. Available in sizes and styles to fit men, women, adults, and kids, you'd be off your rocker to pass up all the fun you'll have wearing this! The men's and boys' version of this costume comes complete with a royal blue velveteen jacket, attached white shirt, argyle-print pants, and three tier velveteen hat with the classic "10/6" label, just as the Mad Hatter wears. A gold appliqué watch is also attached to the jacket (but don't rely on it because it is exactly two days slow)! Jazz up your costume with a white wig and a tea cup and saucer set. Ladies may wish to dress up with the Sexy Mad Hatter costume with versions featuring a small or large chapeau in green with a short, off-the-shoulder dress with a white blouse and green skirt, flared with an attached petticoat to show lots of leg. A much more modest version is available for little girls with an oversized green hat and black, pink and green dress decorated with oversized teacups.

This is the perfect costume for any upcoming Halloween parties or if you have an unbirthday coming up!
