About Luchadors

In Mexico, their high-flying, fast-paced, and aerial style of professional wrestling is known as "Lucha Libre," which translates into "Free Fighting." Its combatants are referred to as "luchadors" and often sport distinctive fabric masks that cover their entire face. The masks convey a part of a luchador's character and it is considered a disgrace for a luchador to be unmasked by his opponent in the ring. Luchadors will go for years -- even decades -- without removing their mask during their wrestling careers. Often, "mask vs. mask" matches are held with the loser being forced to unmask himself in the middle of the ring.

Dressing up as a Luchador

Available in styles to suit adults and kids are several Luchador costumes and masks. Kids can wear concept-styled Luchador costumes such as the El Diablo costume and El Muerto. Each costume comes with a bodysuit with built-in, foam "muscle" padding for the look of the powerful physique of these Mexican athletes. The El Diablo (Spanish for "The Devil") costume features red pants trimmed in gold lame on the bodysuit and a detachable red cape. And of course, included is a red luchador mask!

The "El Muerte" ("The Dead") costume features an all-black bodysuit with muscle padding with a skeleton theme on both the mask and chest piece of the costume. Included are a muscle suit, cape, boot covers, and mask in black and shining silver.

Adults can opt for a look based on Jack Black's character Nacho Libre from the film of the same name.
