What? You think the boys were the only ones to have fun on pirate ships? Much like Elizabeth Swan who became King of Pirates (or Queen) in Pirates of the Caribbean, there were a number of female pirates throughout history who were just as much of a fearsome force sailing the Seven Seas as their male counterparts.

One of the most famous of Lady Pirates was Anne Bonny. Bonny made her bones in the 18th century and was the daughter of a wealthy Irish attorney who ran off and married a pirate. Bonny was also close friends with another lady pirate of reknown, Mary Read, who fooled nearly everyone into believing she was really a man... That is, until she became pregnant.

Other famous female pirates include the Chinese widow pirate, Ching Shih and "Mary the Goat," who headbutted people before robbing them.

Try on some gorgeous -- and highly practical -- pirate lady costumes with fitted pants in a variety of colors and fabrics, from royal pirate velvet to rustic pirate leather in a beautiful, burnished brown.

It's not all just about looking good as a pirate. You've got to be able to back it up! Stand and deliver with a fierce pirate cutlass or a set of imposing toy pirate pistols. For a tough-girl touch, try on an eye patch, possibly in a costume-coordinated color.
