About King of Hearts

There are several meanings you can find when talking about the King of Hearts. Most of us consider the King of Hearts to be a playing card from a regular 52 card deck. This is the usually description. The King of Hearts card has a king in the center with hearts for the suit. The other connotation of the King of Hearts can refer to the 1966 film. The 1966 film titled “King of Hearts” was actually a satire regarding World War I. The film was created in France and is set in a small French town. The German army is about to leave the town after the occupation during the war. However, before the town is completely abandon a soldier wearing a kilt is sent into the city. There is a bomb about to go off destroying the city and Plumpick must disarm it. He accidently leaves the insane asylum doors open letting out all the crazy individuals. The film is meant to ask the question who was more insane those in the asylum or the soldiers on the battlefield.

Dressing up as the King of Hearts

There are two costumes you can choose if you want to be the King of Hearts. You may elect to be King Plumpick from the 1966 film in which case you need a king costume with crown. The costume would be a dress shirt, vest, and in the films case a kilt. If you want to be the traditional king of hearts costume you will find a playing card outfit with the King of Hearts on the front, with the back of the playing card for the rear of the costume. Other costume ideas include Queen of Hearts, Lion King, and King Richard.
