About King Henry VIII

King Henry the Eighth was the King of England from 1509 until his death in 1547. He was the second monarch of the House of Tudor and father of Queen Elizabeth I. King Henry VIII's reign was riddled with controversy. He was married multiple times and his desire to divorce cause him to create the Church of England to splinter off from the Roman Catholic Church that denied him divorce. He ended up being married six times, (his first wife was Catherine of Aragon and his last was Catherine Parr) but had multiple mistresses throughout his marriages. Nevertheless, were any of his wives to be accused of cheating on him, it was considered treason and King Henry VIII had them beheaded.
