About Kilts

The kilt is a traditional form of Scottish dress that has endured to this day. Modern-day bagpipers still wear these manly plaid, pleated skirts, as do British royalty. Even Prince Charles has been seen wearing a kilt with white kneesocks to important events on occassion. And of course, Catholic and private school girls often wear a much shorter version of this attire as part of their uniform.

Kilt came in a wide variety colors and plaid patterns called "Tartans." Each unique tartan was worn by a particular clan or family of Scots from different regions of Scotland. Each respective clan would proudly sport their tartan kilt in their every day life and even in battle like a portable, wearable coat of arms.
