About Kermit the Frog

One of the very first puppet creations of Jim Henson that would come to be known as Muppets, Kermit the Frog is always a favorite with children of all ages. Voiced by Jim Henson himself, the congenial green leader of the loveable Muppets got his start on various local programs before being introduced to the public at large on Sesame Street. Finally, in 1976, the Muppets got their own television show. A major facet of The Muppet Show involved romantic tension between the aggressively pursuant Miss Piggy and her timid beloved, "Ker-mieeee!" Eventually, in 1984, in the film, "The Muppets Take Manhattan," Miss Piggy finally got her man... err... frog, marrying Kermit.

Dressing as Kermit the Frog

It's not easy bein' green, but it is easy to dress up as Kermit the Frog. Try on a Frog Prince costume for size with a green bodysuit and included "webbed feet" to give you a very Kermit-like look. If you're feelin' froggy and want to add your own added touch to the costume to emulate Kermit's famous green collar, get a piece of non-fray green felt from a local craft store and easily make your own Kermit-collar with a series of large triangles and adhere it with sticky-backed Velcro. Paint your face with {green makeup| should it stick out from underneath your mask.
