About Jimmy McElroy

The wholesome young up-and-coming figure skater, Jimmy McElroy was played by Jon Heder (of Napoleon Dynamite fame) in the 2007 comedy, Blades of Glory. Encouraged to skate by his adoptive billionaire father, McElroy found himself disowned by his dad and barred from the sport of men's figure skating after an altercation at the 2003 World Winter Sports Games with rival skater, Chazz Michael Michaels. The two are stripped of their medals and receive a lifetime ban. In the years following the ban, the once-promising (yet slightly girly) Jimmy is reduced to working in a sporting goods store and is demoted to stock boy. Determined to get back into skating, he discovers a loophole that he's only banned from figure skating as a singles' competitor... He teams up with his old coach and nemesis Michaels and the two become the first same-sex couples' skaters, wowwing fans with "Fire and Ice."
