About Hera

Hera is one of the Goddesses from Greek Mythology. Hera was the wife of Zeus. Her main mythological function was to watch over women and marriage. In Roman Mythology Hera is usually referred to as Juno. The cow and then the peacock were considered to be sacred animals for her. Hera was born to Cronus and Rhea, but her father swallowed her because she would be the child to take over his throne. Zeus though he was her husband was also her brother. Her brother was not swallowed by their father, because Rhea set a plan about to make sure it would not happen. Rhea gave her husband an herb concoction that allowed the regurgitation of the five gods and goddesses the husband swallowed. This gave Rhea back Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon. Zeus learning of his father’s deeds banished him to Tartarus. Zeus and Hera had Ares, Eris, and Hephaestus as their children. Hera was a vengeful Goddess with plenty of jealous in her heart. She often was against mortals who crossed her or paramours of Zeus.

Dressin up as Hera

Most of the costumes are made from cotton like materials. To complete the costume is often a fake gold crown and leather sandals. Other Goddesses, Medusa, Greek Goddess make great costumes to look at for Hera. Hercules and Zeus also make nice accompanying costumes. There are costumes for all sizes, and especially for adults.
