About Hawaii

Hawaii though part of the 50 states is a bit different than the rest of the country. Hawaii consists of several islands with the largest city being Honolulu. Since its location is in the Pacific Ocean there are several influences for those who have settled. While those who are born on the island are considered Hawaiian they have a culture from the Philippines and Japan that makes most of their food and style of dress similar to the Asian cultures. Hawaii became a part of the US in 1959 as the 50th state. Their style of dress on Hawaii is often more island like with thin shirts, shorts or summer dresses. Of course they do have jeans and business clothing as well. Hawaii, when you get into the mountain regions can become very cold during the winter months.

Dressing up as Hawaii

The typical style that we think of for Hawaii dress is the hula skirts with coconut bras or bathing suit tops for women. A hula skirt is usually made of fake grass. For children there is a less revealing hula costume if you feel like being Hawaiian this Halloween. There is also the full dress that will either be knee length or ankle length. Most of Hawaiian dress or costume is going to be a flower pattern. For the men you have the Macho Maui Man or Hawaiian print shirts with shorts. Goddess costumes of Hawaii can also be an idea for you to create or find. There is something for everyone that has a budget.
