About Hansel

In the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel," Hansel is the older brother of the two siblings. Taking place in Germany, Hansel and Gretel are abandoned in the forest in the woods by their hapless father at the request of their wicked stepmother. It is the clever Hansel who uses breadcrumbs to leave a trail to find their way back home. His equally clever sister Gretel thwarts the evil witch's plan to fatten up Hansel to eat by having him stick out a chicken bone for her to feel, fooling her that he's still very skinny.

Dressing up as Hansel

Due to the German origins of this fairy tale, a classic costuming interpretation of Hansel includes a pair of lederhosen. In sizes to fit adults and children, you can accessorize your look with a pair of high white knee socks to offset the included white shirt worn beneath the lederhosen and an optional Swiss alps hat with a feather.
