About Hannibal Lecter

A fictional character created by author Thomas Harris, Hannibal Lecter is a former psychiatrist who had a penchant for eating human flesh. Now, now, before we get too judgmental on Hannibal the Cannibal, Dr. Lecter was rather selective about his victims, choosing only the dregs of society who were beyond reproach, or those who offended his personal sense of (pardon the pun) taste, such as an orchestra player whose playing threw off the entire symphony. Lecter is later placed in a high security prison for his serial murders. In the book and film, "Silence of the Lambs," Lecter, while incarcerated, forges a strong bond with FBI agent Clarice Starling whom he helps to unravel a string of murders. He later elopes with Starling in the novel/film "Hannibal." Hannibal Lecter was famously played by actor Sir Anthony Hopkins who won an Academy Award for his chilling portrayal.
