An English revolutionary, who, in 1605, during the reign of King James I, attempted with several others to blow up Parliament. In England, Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated every November 5th with the burning of Guy Fawkes effigees and a fireworks display.

The British legend of Guy Fawkes gained notoriety in the United States through the recent release of the film V For Vendetta, based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, the protagonist V wears a Guy Fawkes mask, marking him as a revolutionary who is out to overthrow a corrupt government.
