About Gunslingers

Gunslinger fairly young word, when you consider the length of time the world has had guns. The term gunslinger was first used in a 1920 western movie called Drag Harlan. Gunfighter is an earlier term though almost as modern coming to use in the mid 1800’s. Both words mean the same thing, however. A gunslinger is an individual who has skill wielding fire arms. They used to be called gunman, pistoleer, shootist, or bad man. However, Bat Masterson a newspaper man coined the term gunfighter, from which we get gunslinger and both words seem catchier. Gunslingers of history are Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp and Pat Garrett. So you do not have to be an outlaw to be a gunslinger. Anyone who had the talent to shoot even cowboys can be a gunslinger. Modern day gunslingers are referred to as Bounty Hunters.

Dressing as Gunslingers##

If you want to be a gunslinger for your next costume party you have plenty of choices. Adults and children can find gunslinger outfits that match their personalities. For a Bounty Hunter costume a pair of blue jeans, tee shirt, and trench coat with fake guns is needed. However, a more traditional appearance would be black riding pants, a white long sleeve shirt, with black leather vest. Over the vest you would need a black duster. A belt at the waist for your guns and ammo, along with cowboy boots and a {cowboy hat] will complete the look.
