About the Grim Reaper
The personification of death itself, the Grim Reaper is usually depicted as a grinning skull peeking out from beneath a black, hooded robe. The Reaper is frequently seen carrying a large scythe and an hourglass, both symbols of mortality. The scythe is the weapon in which Death "cuts down" mortals, reaping them from the earth while the hourglass represents the fleeting seconds that comprise a human life in comparison to the millennia the world has been in existance.
