About Green Tights

Tighter than pants, but not as shiny as spandex, tights aren't as modern as they may seem. Heralding back to the days of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, Robin Hood and his men were quite merry and manly, sporting tights underneath their tunics as they protected Sherwood Forest from the dastardly Sherrif of Nottingham.

Another fan of green tights is the boy who never grew up, Peter Pan, flying through the air with a pair of aerodynamically sound tights that didn't impede his flight!

And of course, ladies also have sported brilliantly emerald hues of green tights. On opposite ends of the spectrum, Strawberry Shortcake and the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz both wore green and white striped tights.

Dressing up with Green Tights

Green tights are the perfect compliment to a number of costumes. Wear them with a Robin Hood outfit underneath a tunic with a bow and arrow for a rabble-rousing Middle Ages hero!

While "Men In Tights" were quite popular in the Middle Ages, (and as evidenced by Mel Brooks' film of the same name, also quite hilarious), green tights of today are reserved for more modern looks. Once a staple of the '80s, brightly colored tights were a fashion staple complimented with short boots, long tunics, and wide belts. Even if you're not costuming for St. Patrick's Day, Green tights make a stunning fashion statement with a contrasting color combination with a purple outfit.

For other costuming ideas, green and black striped tights are popular for many gothic looks, including the Gothic Lolita style imported from Japan.
