#About Greek Warrior# Greek Warrior is a very obtuse word because it can mean both female and male. It can also refer to Spartan warriors or Gods and Goddesses. Greek Mythology was not the only thing to spark the idea of Greek Warriors, but it is certainly where we get most of our costume ideas from. Anyone who lived in ancient Greece that was also trained in the military would have been considered a Greek warrior. In this period the warrior would be only male according to history. It is in mythology that Greek warriors can be either male or female. One of the more famous 90’s versions of a Greek Warrior was Xena from the television show Xena Warrior Princess. A great deal of mythology was used in the filming of the show, including bringing in Hercules from time to time.

Dressing up as Greek Warrior

Since most of the costumes we have today are based on Myths we have Athena, Zeus, Spartan and Warrior Goddess costumes. Many of the looks are quite similar with the cape, Roman sandals, and armor. The traditional look for men includes a fake body armor for the upper torso, with a short skirt like armor for the lower torso. Much of the fabric is meant to look like leather as would have been worn in olden times. For the women the costume is less revealing or at least it can be. One costume provides a faux leather halter dress with ornate gold on the bodice. The skirt of the dress is slit almost to the hip with lace up cuffs for the wrists. Whether you are looking for a child’s costume or adult there is definitely something in Greek Warrior.
