About Greasers

In the 1950s, the term greaser was almost synonymous with boys from the wrong side of the tracks. Being a greaser entailed two things. One half of "the word" comes from the amount of grease put into their hair into a slicked back or pompadour style and hold it in place. The other half referenced the greaser's affinity for working on muscle cars and motorcycles, souping them up and racing them after playing mechanic. This name was co-opted for the title of the Broadway musical turned film, Grease.

Kickstart your Greaser look with a great greaser wig, shellacked into a wavy black pompadour style. Add a pair of black greaser sunglasses for a cool, enigmatic aura.
