About Go Go Dancers
Go Go Dancers got their start in the 1960s when "The Twist" was the most popular dance craze sweeping the country. Girls would hop up on tables with the mini-skirts and tall boots that were the fashion of the day and dance. Patrons ate this up! Savvy club owners decided to hire these dancing girls for patrons to watch and the modern go go dancer was born. "Go Go Dancing" later became synonymous with the art of striptease, although being a paid dancer on a stage is kind of similar, they're not neccessarily the same thing.
Dressing up as a Go Go Dancer
Channel cute little Goldie Hawn from her Laugh-In days with a brightly colored Go Go Dancer costume complete with a vivid, psychadelic floral printed mini-dress and a matching headband. Add a pair of bright white, yellow, red -- or even silver -- go go boots, or any color that gets you to shake your groove thing! Add some body paint for a fun effect straight out of the '60s.\
Or, create your own costume with a pair of knee-high go go boots, a mini-skirt, and a mod top. Brush up on your Watusi and the Twist before grinding on the dance floor!
