About Gnome

A Gnome is a mythical creature. They are very small in body and live underground. Typically in mythology and other stories they have complete sub- networks of homes and food stores. The word Gnome actually comes from Gnomus a Latin term. Genomus is literally translated as earth dweller. Gnomes are considered to be small, bearded and wearing a conical red hat. Gnomes are supposed to be fun benevolent characters, unlike their counterparts the Goblins. Gnomes are also supposed to be the keeps of a magic sword. Some Gnomes are actually for the garden as statuettes based on the garden gnome principle in some mythology.

Dressing Up as Gnome

To dress up as a Gnome you need the right parts of the costume. A gnome is typically considered an old man with a humpback. Most gnomes are dressed in colourful and bright clothing. Rumpelstiltskin is a great gnome to pattern a costume after. To dress as a gnome you will need a white beard, red conical hat and old fashioned clothing. The clothing can be patterned pretty close to a jester if you wish with the bright colors and fun. The clothing should be based on the 1700’s to 1800’s. It is very easy to either make a gnome costume or find one below. There are gnome costumes for infants all the way to adult sizes.
