One of the first people that Dorothy Gale from Kansas met upon finding herself in the magical land of Oz was Glinda the Good Witch. Arriving in a glittering bubble, Glinda announced her presence as the protectoress of all that was good in Oz. At the end of the film, "The Wizard of Oz," the powerful Glinda tells Dorothy that the power to go home has been with her all along.

In the hit Broadway musical, "Wicked," Glinda's backstory is told, showing her to have once been close friends with the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba.
