Brought to Europe by the Crusaders, Gingerbread isn't just a holiday treat. This confection is popular around Christmas when it's made into elaborately decorated Gingerbread houses or Gingerbread Man cookies, decorated with icing to make his "clothes", raisins or button candies for eyes and facial features, Gingerbread is a popular desert cookie made year round. It can also be made into delicious Gingerbread cakes. Although ginger is the main spice in this cake, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices are also added to to these treats to give a deeper flavor.

Dressing up as Gingerbread

Every good Fairy Tale story or fantasy parade float needs a Gingerbread man!
