About Gilligans Island

Although it only ran for three years, from 1964 to 1967, {Gilligan's Island} was hugely popular in its heyday and gained even more of a following in the nearly 40 years it's been running in syndication. Kind of like "Lost" but with a lot more comedy, the show focused on the seven castaways who shipwrecked on "an uncharted desert isle" while on a cruise aboard the S.S. Minnow and their attempts to be rescued and taken back to civilization. The beauty of Gilligans Island was that it was a social microcosm, with average people standing alongside movie stars, millionaires, and brilliant professors who could build a radio from a coconut. And it had a pretty catchy theme song, too!

Dressing up as Gilligan's Island

Pick your favorite castaway to dress up as this Halloween or for an island-themed party. Dress as the bumbling Gilligan the Minnow's first mate who accidentally thwarted the castaways' attempts to be rescued with his white, askew sailor's fishing cap and red and white rugby shirt. Or, stuff a blue polo shirt with a pillow, put on a pair of white pants and a captain hat to become the Skipper and stand alongside your "Little Buddy" Gilligan.

Ladies can dress up as Mrs. Howell, the "Millionaire's Wife" with a string of pearls and a colorful outfit that screams old money or as Ginger, the red-haired movie star with a red wig and a glamourous evening gown. Or... Go as everyone's favorite female castaway who could bake a mean, coconut cream pie... sweet Mary Anne with her gingham midriff top and denim hip-huggers. Put your hair in pigtails or pick up a black pigtailed wig and set sail for a "three hour tour, a three hour tour" of fun at your next party!
