The world's most popular line of military-themed toys, G.I. Joe got its start as a 12-inch action figure for boys in 1964. Each figure had fully articulated joints and was characterized by its removable military uniforms and close-cropped "flocked" hair and/or beard. In 1982, the 12-inch dolls gave way to smaller 3 1/2 inch figures that served as merchandising for a comic book and animated series. This is the GI Joe that is most popular to children of the '80s with the good guys (and women!) of the American military strike force G.I. Joe pitted against the nefarious terrorist organization known as Cobra, bent on world domination. Some of the most popular members of the GI Joe team include Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Duke while notable Cobra squad characters include Cobra Commander, Destro and the Baroness.

Dressing up as G.I. Joe

Hearken back to the toys of old with classic GI Joe costumes in adult and children's sizes. A cosplay, movie-quality Cobra Commander costume is available with a blue military style uniform with jacket and pants in blue emblazoned with the red Cobra symbol on its chest. Also included is a black, over-the-head hooded mask that the sinister Cobra Commander wore in the cartoon and will likely wear in the forthcoming film.

A black or white ninja costume is perfect for dressing as Storm Shadow or Snake Eyes, too.
