About Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider is the title character of the Marvel Comics series that made his debut in 1972. Johnny Blaze was a motorcycle stuntman who agreed to give up his soul to the demon Mephisto in exchange for the life of his mentor. Blaze's mentor, "Crash" Simpson dies anyway and Simpson's daughter frees Blaze from his demonic pact with a spell based on selfless love. Instead, the infuriated demon curses Blaze who now shares his body with another spirit, Zarathos -- the Spirit of Vengeance, transforming him into the Ghost Rider who takes over his body at night. Blaze harnesses Zarathos' powers for good, becoming the Ghost Rider -- a fearsome entity with a flaming skull for a head that throws bursts of hellfire from his motorcycle, in his demonic form. It is later revealed in the comic book series that the Ghost Rider is a much older force and dates back even to the Old West, once inhabiting a horse-riding cowboy. After Johnny Blaze rids himself of the spirit, Daniel Ketch takes up the mantle of the Ghost Rider.
Dressing up as Ghost Rider
Blaze up as Johnny Blaze, the human host to the Spirit of Vengeance known as Zarathos with officially licensed Marvel Comics Ghost Rider costumes. Available in adult and children's sizes, the Ghost Rider costume comes complete with a black (faux) leather biker jacket that zips up in front and flaming skull half-mask in latex.
If you have your own jacket, a Ghost Rider mask is also sold separately, as are Ghost Rider gloves which are styled with spiked gauntlets that hit to a few inches above the wrist and have fingerless, biker gloves styling on the hand enclosures. Also available is the Ghost Rider staff with a flaming skull head, a fearsome instrument which gives the illusion of throwing hellfire bolts when in costume.
