About Geppetto

A master marionette creator, Geppetto was in need of someone he could call his little boy. In 1881, Carlo Collodi wrote the Adventures of Pinocchio for children. The Italian writer worked on the series until 1883, eventually making a children’s book of all the stories. Pinocchio was unlike any other marionette because his wooden body was animated. Geppetto was considered Pinocchio’s father and definitely a woodcarver. Geppetto appeared in a few cartoons made by Disney, along with Pinocchio and his cat. Geppetto also starred in the 1940 animated classic that Disney created as a full length feature film. The movie had the same ideas as the books even recreating the idea of Pinocchio’s nose, which elongates when he lies. Geppetto is any elderly individual, who is rather impoverished. Geppetto is actually a nickname for Guiseppe, a common Italian name.

Dressing up as Geppetto

If you’re a grandfather who loves to dress up in costumes for Halloween or at costume parties, Geppetto may be for you. As an elderly male Geppetto costumes will offer silver or grey hair with a moustache. The clothing required is an 18th century work shirt, brown vest, and tan or brown pants.
