About Gene Simmons

Known as not just the bassist and one of the lead singers for the rock band, Kiss, Gene Simmons is a television star and entrepreneur, the business and marketing brains behind the band. Born in Haifa, Israel as Chaim Witz, Gene Simmons migrated to America as a young boy with his mother. He became an elementary school teacher after graduating college while still plugging away in bands on the New York music scene before teaming up with Paul Stanley. Gene's love of comic books and horror films helped him create his character's makeup and persona for "The Demon" in Kiss. The band released their first album in 1974 and Gene has remained with the band ever since, pushing them to legendary status and marketing hundreds of items under the Kiss banner. He also stars on his own reality television series on A&E with his longtime girlfriend and their two children, "Gene Simmons' Family Jewels."

I went to a resale store and bought each one of them a black shirt, black leggings and a pair of black boots with heels (all of these items were purchased in the girls department - my boys weren't thrilled about that). Homemade Gene Simmons Destroyer-era costume. The armor is made from a Goodwill set of football shoulder pads and some old plastic buckets. The codpiece and bat wings were made from vinyl and ripstop nylon, respectively, and the codpiece is studded with quilter's thumbtacks. The leg scales are stiff felt and hot glue sewed to the cutoff legs from an old pair of jeans, and the monster boots are ... read more »
