About Gaspar
In the story of the Nativity, Gaspar (or his alternate spelling, "Caspar") was one of the three Magi, also known as the Three Kings or the Three Wise Men who traveled from their native homelands to give gifts to the infant Jesus and his earthly parents, Mary and Joseph. Gaspar is believed to have gifted Jesus with gold, a symbol of his eartly status as the "King of Kings" and also signified virtue.
Dressing up as Gaspar
For a Christmas play or church re-enactment of the Nativity, there are costumes to dress yourself as the gold-bearing Magi Gaspar in adult and childrens' sizes. Made of rich burgandy fabric with an embroidered-look overlay, the Gaspar costume is trimmed with gold. It features the robe and a matching crown.
For an accessory, carry a gold tray or receptical filled with gold (candy) coins. Wear some grecian sandals to complete the look.
