About Gabriella

An award-wining Disney Channel made-for-TV movie series, High School Musical follows a group of friends through the course of the big game, scholastic decathlon, and the school musical tryouts. Released in January 2006 and set to a best selling soundtrack, the movie followed Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez whose tryout for the musical changes their school and their lives. In Grease style, Try and Gabriella fall in love at first sight at a karaoke competition during a school break. When Gabriella suddenly transfers into Troy’s high school, they challenge their school’s stereotypes by dating and proving that a jock and a nerd can date, and be the leads in a musical. Gabriella is a shy “Einstinette” (according to the antagonist Sharpay’s assessment). She is a member of the Scholastic Decathlon at East High School and formally was a member of the choir before she had to sing a solo and dropped out. With Troy’s help, Gabriella overcomes her fear of the spotlight and finally finds what she’s been looking for.
