Being Michael Jackson

vote up  vote down44 up, 12 down

Separate yourself from the pack of Michael Jacksons sure to be moonwalking their way through costume parties this year by going the extra mile. No, I'm not saying to drink some Pepsi and accidentally catch on fire, but add some extra oomph to that red Beat It jacket and beaded socks. Watch some of MJ's videos to get a feel for some of his key dance moves. Bust out a spin-in-place or learn ... read more »

One of the most popular commercial characters lately is Flo, the upbeat, ironic, and perennially perky Progressive Insurance peddler. A great and easily identifiable costume idea (thanks to a spiffy "tricked-out name tag"), check out how you can make your own Flo costume: ##Things You'll Need## * ... read more »

The "King of Queens," Kevin James makes it to the big screen in the comedy "Paul Blart: Mall Cop." Centaur (Half Man Half Horse)Contest Entry

vote up  vote down8 up, 5 down

This costume is a centaur, half man half horse. I purchased soft suede fabric, along with a wig(for the horse's mane, horse's tail and the man's hair), and also a muscle man t-shirt. Since my son is only 3, I sewed in a pair of pants inside the front two horses hooves. I used cardboard to shape the horse and bent the cardboard into the horse's back and stomach. I also used some cotton stuffing ... read more »

One of the most popular character creations to spring from the glue-huffing mind of Charlie, Night Man got his due in a rock opera on the season finale of FX's comedy hit, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." You gotta hand it to the late night host for brushing off his indiscretions with his characteristic humor. Show up to the party with not one, but TWO women on your arm. Being Mackenzie Phillips and John Phillips

There's nothing creepier than incest, unless it's consentual incest. Be something truly scary this Halloween and become Mackenzie Phillips and her (very) proud papa, John. About Funny

If it can make you laugh, it's funny! Anything which evokes laughter falls into the category of "humor." The word "humor" itself is derrived from an ancient Greek term for "humoral medicine," a mixture of juices or saps that helped to control human emotion. Perhaps this is where the saying, "Laughter is the best medicine" comes from.

Different things make different people laugh, and there are a variety of categories of humor. There's satire, which makes fun of people or concepts and is most popularly used in a political context or making fun of pop culture entities (for example, MAD Magazine pokes fun at television shows, movies, etc.). Another category of humor is slapstick, used by guys like the Three Stooges involving physical humor. Then there's observational humor as performed by comedians like Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld.

Dressing up Funny

You can't go wrong with a funny costume! Opt for the tried and true like a clown or characters from your favorite comedy films like Borat and Dumb and Dumber. Or, get big laughs with some original costumes. Some are based on parodies of superheroes with ideas like Beer Man and Fat Bat, others are humorous takes on horror figures like Drac in the Box. Comical costumes based on household items like the socket and plug costume are also unusual options.
