About Funny

If it can make you laugh, it's funny! Anything which evokes laughter falls into the category of "humor." The word "humor" itself is derrived from an ancient Greek term for "humoral medicine," a mixture of juices or saps that helped to control human emotion. Perhaps this is where the saying, "Laughter is the best medicine" comes from.

Different things make different people laugh, and there are a variety of categories of humor. There's satire, which makes fun of people or concepts and is most popularly used in a political context or making fun of pop culture entities (for example, MAD Magazine pokes fun at television shows, movies, etc.). Another category of humor is slapstick, used by guys like the Three Stooges involving physical humor. Then there's observational humor as performed by comedians like Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld.

Dressing up Funny

You can't go wrong with a funny costume! Opt for the tried and true like a clown or characters from your favorite comedy films like Borat and Dumb and Dumber. Or, get big laughs with some original costumes. Some are based on parodies of superheroes with ideas like Beer Man and Fat Bat, others are humorous takes on horror figures like Drac in the Box. Comical costumes based on household items like the socket and plug costume are also unusual options.
