When he rose up off the slab in Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein's office and came to life, the Doctor looked at the monster and his assistant Igor and said... "It's gotta be the shoes!" In the 1931 film, "Frankenstein," as the Monster, Borris Karloff wore huge platform boots that added several inches to his height. Additionally, the shoes were filled with lead weights to give him a convincingly plodding, back-from-the-dead sort of lumbering gait. Talk about suffering for your art!
