Tall, pink birds with long legs, Flamingoes are not just striking waterfowl with webbed feet, but in their plastic incarnations are reknowned for being a brightly colored lawn ornament. Real flamingos in the wild are graceful, with the ability to stand on one leg, if need be. The exact reason for this is unknown, however, flamingoes have the ability to put half of their body in a sleep-like state to recharge. When one side is rested (with the leg tucked under at rest), they then switch to the other side. Additionally, flamingoes get their pink color from the abundance of brine shrimp and beta carotene in their diet, proving the old adage "you are what you eat."
