A classic chapeau known for its effortless style, the fedora is usually made out of felt (although leather and faux leather versions of the hat are also popular) with a crease down the middle that is "pinched" inward near the front part of the crown. It has a medium-sized brim and is often decorated with a band around the brim that can be made from fabric, ribbon, or even leather cording. The hat itself was named for a stage play called "Fedora" which starred the famous actress, Sarah Bernhardt. In this play, Bernhardt wore a hat similar in style to what would become known as the fedora.
