About Elf

An elf was first created by Norse mythology. They were considered a race dealing with nature and fertility. They are typically small creatures both female and male. Elves typically live in forests, underground places, caves, wells, or even springs. They are considered immortal and magical beings. Elves have been depicted in history in several different ways. For example the first elves are more closely associated with J.R.R. Tolken’s rendition in his Lord of the Rings, but then we have Santa’s Elves which are magical little people that make toys. Hollywood and other writers have added their own style to the Elf creations changing their looks and abilities to suit their needs. Dobby from Harry Potter is a house elf, who doesn’t have respect, but has magical powers. Depending on your theory of the Elf you may see them in many different lights.

Dressing up as Elf

Before you can dress up as an Elf you need to consider what type of elf you would like to be. There is the character Elf from the Hollywood movie with Will Farrell. You also have Harry Potter house elf such as Dobby with his big ears, buggy eyes, and long nose. Lord of the Rings elves are another choice for example you had Legolas with his pointed ears, long blonde hair, and bow and arrow. With the season that is fast approaching Christmas Elves may be most in your mind, but remember there is truly an elf for any costume party. The Christmas Elf requires the pointy ears, red and white striped cap and leggings, green tunic, and magic powers to make toys.
