About Edward Scissorhands

One of the most memorable and beloved characters in filmdom and perhaps the one that put Tim Burton's name on the map, Edward Scissorhands was a modern-day friendly Frankenstein constructed by a kindly toymaker in a castle high above a suburban community. Unfortunately, Edward's father-figure, the Toymaker died before being able to make him a pair of human hands, leaving him with a set of multi-bladed makeshift scissors for hands. The frightened, yet extremely articulate Edward was found by a suburban family and came to live with them, falling in love with their teen daughter who had a rather nasty boyfriend.

Dressing up as Edward Scissorhands

Several officially licensed Edward Scissorhands costumes are available to transform you into the surprisingly sweet Scissorhands. Each one includes an Edward Scissorhands wig, a set of Scissorhands gloves with attached plastic "blades," and a black PVC jacket with bondage-style buckles. Pick up your own pair of black leather or PVC pants to complete the look and the Edward Scissorhands make up kit to give yourself Edward's look of pale skin and accidental "cuts" and welts on your face.

For a memorable couple's costumes, gentlemen may wear an Edward Scissorhands costume and ladies can dress as Kim, Winona Ryder's character from the film and Edward's love interest.
