The main character in Charles' Dickens holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," Ebeneezer Scrooge is a wealthy man in Victorian England who cares little for Christmas -- or anybody else for that matter. (A fact that his long-suffering employee Bob Cratchet can attest to!) A Christmas Eve visit from his old business partner, Jacob Marley and three Christmas ghosts show him his life and the error of his ways, hoping to change his mind and heart.

Dressing up as Ebeneezer Scrooge

If you find yourself feeling Scrooge-like, or performing in a holiday play of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", here's the cure for what ails ye, merry gentleman! Find yourself hunched over with a walking cane and a grey wig with a Scrooge costume in the typical Victorian style of a miserly gentleman of his day. Accessorize with a top hat and several flannel scarves. Hey, it's cheaper to keep warm with layers than turning up the heat!

Or, dress as Scrooge in his night shirt, an ensemble he sports through much of the story as he's visited by a host of holiday ghosts. The shirt itself is ankle length and all white with a matching stocking cap. Wear your own pair of bedroom slippers for maximum comfort on an uncomfortable journey!
