One of the biggest holidays in the Christian calendar year is Easter, which celebrates the death and miraculous resurrection of Jesus Christ. Although the Easter Bunny figures prominently in on the holiday, bringing kids baskets of delicious candy, the bunny relates back to ancient, pre-Christian origins involving spring and fertility rites (represented by rabbits) sacred to the goddess Eostre, from which the name Easter is derived. The tradition of painted eggs also dates back before the birth of Christ and was adopted by the church to symbolize the new life in Jesus' resurrection.

Dressing up for Easter

Dress up for an Easter egg hunt with any one of a number of adorable Easter Bunny costumes. Done in a mascot-style costume with a plush bodysuit and oversized full-coverage headpiece with tall bunny ears on top, there are limitless styles. Some come in shades of pastel blue, pink, and classic white while others feature a fully dressed Easter Bunny wearing his Sunday best with a vest and even a bowtie.

Also consider several Biblical costumes including Jesus, Mary and other figures from the Bible for your church's Passion Play, re-enacting the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday before Easter. A crown of thorns is also available as an important piece to your religious-themed costume.
