About Dreadlocks

More than just a fashion statement, dreadlocks found their "root" as a show of religious, and later political affiliation. Dreadlocks, or "dreads" occur when little grooming is done to the hair and it twists and mats itself into "locks", long ropes of hair that clump together and hang down. Although people from all walks of life, this hairstyle is closely associated with the Rastafarian movement, representative of the Lion of Judah, an Israelite tribe that has links to the son of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Dreadlocks found their way into mainstream with Bob Marley proudly sporting them as a show of his Rastafarian beliefs.

Dressing up with Dreadlocks

From goth to Rasta, there's a dreadlock wig to suit your costuming needs. Pick up a Rasta hat in red, green, and yellow with attached dreads. This works great along with a Homer Simpson mask, emulating his "Homer-palooza" look from a classic episode!

Pirate dreads make a great addition to a Pirates of the Caribbean or Jack Sparrow costume!

For a club-ready look, there are multi-colored goth dreads that look great paired with goggles and a vinyl outfit!
