About Dracula

Dracula and vampires have long been fascinating to us. Dram Stoker’s Dracula was written in 1897. It was also created into several movies in the early 30’s and even one in the 1990’s. Dracula’s character is said to be based on Vlad the Impaler an actual being in earlier centuries. It was said that the Impaler hung men he killed from cages as well as sticks in the ground. Vlad the Impaler lived in Transylvania and fought many wars. Of course the man was not a vampire, but it is stuff to make legends from. Vlad was Dracula of Wallachia. During his reign it is said that he killed 20,000 to 40,000 men. This would have been a period of 6 years. He is also thought to have killed 100,000 Turkish Muslims as well. While he may not have been a vampire there was definitely a lust for blood. The Dracula of fiction is supposed to be a human turned into a vampire with a devil pact after his love died. He is a beast that sucks blood, makes a vampire harem, and can only die when staked and then having his head cut off.

Dressing up as Dracula

Dracula has some key features that are very important to his costume. You can also elect to be a female vampire, Van Helsing, or other characters from the book. Dracula is usually seen in a black pants, white dress shirt and vest with a cape. The cape can be blood red on the interior if you wish. Most Dracula costumes will have white gloves and the vampire teeth. You can elect to get face paint to offer the un- dead complexion of the vampire. You may even decide to add a few drops of blood on the side of your mouth. Dracula is a well groomed individual as well as a great dresser. There are other costumes such as the bat look from the movie or other Dracula appearances from other films to choose from.
