About Dolphin

Dolphins are marine mammals. They are related to porpoises and whales. The Orca is considered to be the largest dolphin even though it is also considered to be the Killer Whale. There are forty species of dolphin around the world. Dolphins are not just ocean dwellers, but they can also be river dwellers. There is an Amazon River Dolphin, Indus River Dolphin, and dolphins in the Yangtzee as well. These river dolphins are typically blind, with longer snouts, and swim in shallower waters. Ocean dolphins vary in design and color depending on where they reside. Dolphins tend to eat fish and squid, but some will take on sea lions and seals. Dolphins date back 10 million years ago to the Miocene. Humans often find dolphins interesting due to their friendly nature and playful demeanor. Bottlenosed Dolphins are very common, especially in the Atlantic. They tend to ride the bow waves. Other dolphin species include the Common Dolphin, Commersons Dolphin, and Spotted Dolphin. Dolphins can live in warm or cold waters depending on what species they are.

Dressing up as Dolphin

Dressing up as a dolphin requires some finesse. There are children’s and adult costumes available. Most of the dolphin costumes come in grey or blue. The bottlenosed dolphin is gray with a lighter underbelly, hence the coloring. For a dolphin costume you will have a plush jumpsuit, with the legs split into the tail fin, the arms as the pectoral fins, and on the back of the costume is the dorsal fin.
