About Dealer

Dealer is the word used to describe a person who hands out cards during card games. The most often game to use dealer with is poker. In poker you have a professional dealer who will hand out the cards the players want. For example in draw poker a player may ask for five new cards, four cards, one card, or any variation of cards to make the best hand. Professional dealers are paid by the casinos, and often make tips from the players when they are good dealers. Dealers have to have fast hands providing the cards. There are different styles of dealing whether you are in American or Europe. Dealers have been around since the invention of card games, as far back as the Roman Empire. A dealer is anyone who is going to deal the cards, so they do not have to be professional, and most at home poker games have a new dealer for each hand.

Dressing up as Dealer

Vegas costumes for card dealers are usually white dress shirts, a colored vest, and black pants. They are not unlike the old dealer costumes of the Wild Wild West. Poker was very big during the 1800’s, so you can expect the costumes to reflect this period of the west. For Dealer costumes you can get a maroon/ gold button paisley vest, with gold trim, and ivory sleeves. You will also get an ivory dickie with maroon tie. An arm garter and western style hat are also part of the costume. To finish it off black pants are needed. To add to the costume you might consider a can can dancer or cowboy to go along with you.
